Housing market is chance for real estate agents to shine

After reading the article "Real estate agents continue to suffer" that ran February 26 in the Gazette newspaper, I felt compelled to write in hopes of sharing a more balanced perspective. Although today's market is a challenge, people are still buying and selling real estate.
My niche market is Prince George's County. I personally see the decline in real estate agents as an opportunity. The real estate pie is now divided by fewer agents. After spending 20-plus years in media sales, I decided to become a full-time Realtor in December 2006 although I have been licensed since April 2003.
During the hot seller's market, some real estate agents became complacent. Selling a home in a buyer's market requires thinking outside of the box. Properties with the right price, condition and marketing are selling.

Maryland Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy 2008
Yolanda was one of twenty (20) individuals selected to participate in the 2008 MAR Leadership Academy.
Committee members select Academy participants based on the interview and the completed application. The selection team seek representation from a cross section of the REALTOR® profession. These potential leaders may be active in business, education, the arts, religion, government, community based organizations,ethnic or minority groups, or real estate specialty areas.
